The Walls Are Part of the Game
In padel, the glass walls are always in play.
If the ball bounces on the ground first and then hits the glass, the rally continues — this is normal
and expected.
What the Metal Mesh Means
The metal mesh (fence) works differently:
-
On your side, if the ball hits the mesh before bouncing, it’s out.
-
On the opponent’s side, after the ball bounces, it may hit the glass or mesh — the point
continues.
Using the Wall on Purpose
Players can also use their own glass wall to return the ball.
For example, if you're under pressure, you can let the ball bounce off your glass and then hit it — this
gives you more time and a tactical angle.
Why It Matters
The walls make padel more strategic, allowing:
- longer rallies,
- more creative shots,
- extra chances to save difficult balls.
